Anchor Nursery School is a traditional nursery school for three and four year old children. Anchor has been serving the community for over 50 years.
At Anchor we believe that children grow by learning how to learn. We develop the necessary skills to be successful in school. Children will learn how to read and write their names, identify letters and numbers and predict the weather, follow directions and follow a daily routine but that's not all. At Anchor we believe that children also need to develop their feelings of self-worth as children of God's family and appropriate social skills. We believe all of these skills are necessary to be successful.
At Anchor we believe that children learn through hands on activities and structured learning centers. Our classroom is set up as various centers to teach children to learn important social skills through supervised play.
At Anchor we believe that children learn through small group instruction. We strive to keep class size small at Anchor with a maximum of sixteen children per class, one teacher and a teacher assistant. Each child works every day in small groups to create projects which will help them develop listening skills as well as fine motor skills while being creative.
At Anchor we believe that children learn through stories and song. All of our units at Anchor are thematic. Everything we teach is centered around a weekly theme which stimulates all of the senses and promotes learning.
At Anchor we believe that children learn through exploring. We have many field trips and in school activities that teach the children through hands on experiences.
